From quitting smoking, weight loss and overcoming phobias to pain relief and dispelling distressing thoughts and feelings; this completely natural and highly effective ancient practice is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the most popular routes to effect lasting change.

Have you ever been on a journey when you suddenly realise you have missed your turn off two stops back?! Or perhaps dialled someone and whilst waiting for the phone to be answered your mind has drifted to thinking of other things and you have temporarily forgotten who you were dialling? Or maybe in a meeting or conversation and you suddenly realise that all eyes are on you waiting for a response to a question or statement you haven't heard?! These, surprisingly, are all varying degrees of trance states and so normal that we do this sometimes every day!

Hypnotherapy involves using these trance states in such a way to bring about therapeutic change by allowing yourself to become pleasantly, physically and mentally relaxed; brought about by a skilled, qualified and professional therapist in a confidential and comfortable environment.

Why use hypnotherapy?

Many people nowadays are becoming increasingly willing to seek therapy for physical, psychological and emotional complaints, and at the same time are more aware that the traditional medical methods of dealing with these complaints e.g. taking pills, may not always be the only - or necessarily the best - form of treatment. This is a completely natural practice with the only side effects being beneficial ones!

What can you expect to happen?

You can expect to feel comfortable and at ease and this is important as the value of the treatment is greatly enhanced when you have confidence in your therapist. I recommend that you book a single session at first and then afterwards decide if you want to proceed with more. I do not charge up front for a given number of sessions as it is impossible to predict before you have begun how many sessions will be needed.

Next you will be asked about the problem and notes may be taken. I will need to find out certain necessary information both about the problem and about yourself.

The next stage is the hypnosis itself which involves being guided gently by my voice into a state where your body and mind are very relaxed - so relaxed it may seem to an onlooker that you are asleep, however you will remain awake enough to be aware. Having reached a suitable hypnotic state, we are able then to access thoughts and emotions that have been surpressed or misinterpreted by the conscious mind. REMEMBER that if at any time you feel uncomfortable and want to terminate the session, then you will be perfectly capable of doing so. It is important to remember that at all times you, as the client, are capable of hearing and understanding everything that is said and importantly you maintain complete control over your own thoughts and actions whilst in this awareness of heightened suggestibility. After this, you may discuss any experience that you have had during the session and this is often an extremely important part of the process.

Finally, payment for the session is made and any further appointments are agreed.

Currently used for the relief and often total release of many issues, the hypnotic state allows use of the special link between the mind and body to create lasting changes by resolution of issues in the lives of those who want things to be different – they can be the way they want to be.
